Aqueous Solutions

12.5”L x 10.5”W x 18.5”H

resin, acrylic ink, plaster and resi-CRETE base, LED

“Water is the driving force of all nature.” – Leonardo Da Vinci

Water is the most essential element to life on Earth. It covers about 70 % of the Earth and makes up about 60 % of the human body. Spiritually, water is often a symbol of life, renewal, intuition, reflection, transformation, and energy.  Water serves as a transporter of energy throughout our bodies, it is the means by which nourishment is circulated throughout ourselves.

Aqueous Solutions is a sculpture of a human foot making a splash in water, the foot is infused with the energy of the water and becomes one with the water as it drips back into itself. A blue light glows from within the sculpture representing the energy that flows from the water into the foot, breathing life into the world.

Anger Splash

12”L x 8.5”W x 9”H

resin, oil-based pigment, plaster base, LED

It is believed that the universe is formed by the four elements: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.  Each of the four elements has its own unique properties, which work simultaneously to create one united universe. Water is the most essential element to life on Earth.

Anger splash is a sculpture of a human fist making a splash in water, the fist is releasing its energy into the water as the water releases its powerful energy back into the fist. A blue light glows from within the sculpture representing the synergy between the fist and the water as they work together to dissipate the negative energy of anger released from the fist while simultaneously dispersing the positive energy of life released from the water into the atmosphere.

Helping Hands

27”L x 27”W x 15”H

resin, water pump, LEDs with wi-fi controller, plastic base

Helping Hands is a 3-dimentional sculpture and a working fountain. Water flows out of the top of the sculpture and cascades down from a pair of hands into a left hand which cascades into a right hand.  The hands form an “assembly line” representing the impact of collaboration and the power of problem solving when people work together towards a common goal.  Additionally, the fountain has imbedded LEDS that cross-fade into several colors, signifying the effectiveness of collaborating within a diverse collective.

Mental Growth

resin, acrylic paint, wire

Mental Growth is a translucent sculpture in the form of a human head, in which a growing tree can be seen within the head.  The sculpture represents personal growth and development that starts from within the mind of a person and ideally continuously grows throughout one’s life, affecting a person’s choices, motivation, self-awareness, confidence, empathy, humility, etc.  The tree within the “mind” of the sculpture is analogous to this concept, with its many growing branches representing each of these characteristics of mental growth and development.

The resin is tinted green, a color that has been known to symbolize life, renewal, nature, growth, and energy. The tree is bare of leaves to show a beginning stage of the growth of the tree. The leaves have not yet grown, as there is further personal growth to work towards.

Transparency

resin, found objects

Transparency is a sculpture in the form of a handbag, the contents of which can clearly be seen by the viewer due to the transparent nature of the sculpture’s medium.  The entire piece was created with epoxy resin, such that the contents of a handbag, in a unnatural way, can be seen by anyone who looks at the handbag.

Seeing the contents of another’s handbag is meant to invoke a certain amount of unease.  A handbag and its contents are usually private by nature, therefore, showing the content’s provoked an amount of vulnerability.  Viewing the inside of a person’s handbag provides pieces of information into that person’s life.  Transparency offers a glimpse into the interaction between privacy and vulnerability.
